I know what your saying about reviewers but to make things worse... MAG is one of those games where the more you play it, rank up, and find a solid squad, the higher your opinion of it will be.
My guess: early reviews = low scores, later reviews = higher scores.
I'll gladly confirm the feedback you've heard/read. This is exactly the reason I enjoyed the game so much during all beta phases (private and public). It wouldn't matter if MAG averages 20's. I was sold long ago on gameplay alone.
Bubbles, kudos, hats and horns! Totally agree with you. IMO, most of the MAG-hate comes from people who play 30 min, get pissed because they can't "pwn" right away, then go back to MW2 or something else.
You truly have to earn everything in MAG by playing well, not just by camping for killstreaks, etc. I think that's what draws me to it the most.

I agree that MAG is an excellent game, but i don't understand why you say the 256 player claim is a false statement. Are you saying that if you don't "see" them all on your screen at one specific time, they are not there?
If the most players you have seen is 30, I suggest playing Domination mode (when it's available) at one of the final capture points. Pure chaotic bliss!
I wouldn't say the graphics are "dumbed down". Certainly they are not KZ2 level, but this game has never been about the graphics so much. The highlights are more on gameplay, communication, and teamwork.
Visually, it's COD4-ish. But MAG gameplay stands alone and has no comparison in my opinion. It's very addictive. For me, gameplay is far more important than eye candy.

Agree with Slyd3vil. Don't give up yet, and keep in mind these huge downloads are part of the testing as well. Report any issues and check the beta forum for help. This game is definitely worth it!
Be warned though, Domination mode will give you multiple MAGasms! :p

MAG is not only the next best thing since sliced bread, but I predict that by the end of 2010 humanity will no longer use sliced bread. Instead we shall eat our favorite cold-cuts sandwiched between two glorious MAG Bluray discs. Mmmmmmmmmm delicious!

Yep the update is huge, but the game is well worth the wait.
I'm definitely hooked on MAG. Gameplay is brilliant, but teamwork and communication is the key to having a good time. Don't give up on it just yet. Find a good team first!
