Well-said! I hope this nonsense about a remake will die sometime soon. I don't want my memories of the game tarnished. Even if it wasn't the best Final Fantasy, it was still a great game, and a remake is kind of a slap in the face to anyone who regards it highly.
You'll have a whole new generation of people talking about it, like youngsters do when they first discover something, except what they see would be distorted compared to the original. And that's if its good. If it's bad, people will just talk trash about it to no end. Neither of those things is something someone would want to happen to one of their cherished memories.
I think an 8 was generous. A lot of the content the previous games had was totally truncated for this title. Oh, and it took 4.5 years to develop? Squaresoft released Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 nearly back-to-back, and they are some of the top-rated RPGs of all time.
I really have to disagree with that. RE2 was crap compared to the original.

How is it expected or even acceptable that a major developer/publisher can release a game that is so-called "unplayable"?
You don't act surprised, but would you be if your next copy of Halo 4 or whatever refused to run for more than three minutes?
For a version of the game that is supposed to be fine-tuned and better than the original, its surprising to see that some of the bugs that were included in the first version are actually worse in the new release.

Did you guys even read this review? The bottom states the game is excellent because of the difficulty, but that the difficulty more than anything else will turn people away from it. It isn't a low score because K-Tuck found it hard. The score may be low relative to other reviews because it doesn't have a mass appeal.
