The same people buy COD every year, same with Madden, Fifa etc. So why is it that having consistent revenue from the same people buying now is bad? Pretty sure Activision Blizzard think so too.

"He said around 200 Million but you're missing the point totally"

No its an idiotic take you're trying to run with. PS5 will reach 100+ million and if Xbox reaches say 50 million and Switch hits 150 million that's already 300+ million consoles. That means for the first time ever BOTH Nintendo and Playstation will have 100+ million sellers in the SAME generation. So he's already wrong on multiple accounts. The main point of 200 million console...

You do realize current Gen between Switch (140 million), PS5 (55 million) and Xbox Series (25 million) is already over 200 million right?! Maybe do some math

"That's a shit deal for us gamers. We need Microsoft in the game. If not for the purpose of at least not selling their studios off to Tencent or the like"

What? The only thing anyone should need from Microsoft is to start making better games. It's not Playstation nor Nintendo's issue that MS/Microsoft can't compete. It still blows my mind that they have such insane resources and still fail to make good games.

Nintendo was within $3 billion of Xbox revenues. Now go minus out Mojang and Bethesda Revenues out and you will see Xbox would be 4th without these huge Microsoft purchases. So again they can't compete with Nintendo at all.

They have literally missed 2 years of Gamepass growth goals and this year will be there 3rd year in a row missing targets. They need to increase 4x fold and gather 100 million subscribers in the next 3 years to meet their goals. Considering it has taken 7 years to reach basically 30 million if you minus out Gold conversion they are nowhere near making their own lofty goals.

"You save Xbox isn’t competition? Then how come Microsoft’s gaming revenue, even before the purchase of ABK was generally ahead Nintendo"

Sorry this is absolutely 💯 an idiotic take. Pls go back and check why Xbox jumped ahead of Nintendo. It had NOTHING to do with growth. All they did was buy Bethesda and add their revenue to skip ahead of Nintendo. That had ZERO to do with 'competition'. By that stupid logic you're going to say Xbox is ...

Not sure I get this strategy when games releasing a year after Xbox probably won't sell well. Just look at Tomb Raider when it was exclusive to Xbox for a year?

It didn't sell on Xbox then the year later released on Playstation and no one cared to buy it. These games absolutely will sink.

852d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Exactly this. Remember when Tomb Raider were exclusive to Xbox for a year? Then launched on Playstation a year later and failed to make sales according to Square? Well this is why Xbox will continue to fail.

Got to love the spin here from Xbox head and their fans. Would love him to explain how Hellblade 2 or Indiana Jones or Blade make sense as exclusive then?!

Didn't this idiot just go on about 'passion projects' and supporting these games which clearly aren't doing well if they need to expand to Playstation/Nintendo to try to pull a profit.

Wouldn't Helldivers be the same? 35 developers started 8 years ago with Sonys support. But n...

This comment is so short sighted it's not even funny. Why take the risk having to make 2 more versions for Xbox Series and stretch thin? Especially when we already know Xbox gamers literally do not buy or support anything?

The studio started with 35 people and worked for 8 years with Sonys support to make the game happen and only have just over 100 developers working on it. A small developer like this would be crushed having to make those versions for Xbox and likely...

It actually dropped if you consider in 2022 they had 25 million Gamepass and 12 million gold subscribers totalling 37 million. Now they folded Gold into Gamepass and they're down to 34 million for a net loss of 3 million.

Lol. Some hard back tracking by the usual trying to suggest that Indiana Jones, Blade etc aren't on the way. The Xbox fanbase do NOT buy games so expect the floodgates to open now.

"Tears of the Kingdom probably outsold everything Sony put out"

Well Tears came out in March so it's been out longer than anything Sony released so this is an idiotic comment to make honestly.

Spiderman 2 has sold 10 million copies in 3 1/2 months versus Tears 20 million in what 10-11 months?

Plus 10 million copies sold to about 50 million PS5s is almost 20% of PS5 owners. 20 million copies of Tea...

Oh yeah they only sold 21 million units in a single calender year how will they cope. When even the Switch has broken 20 million only twice and Xbox has never done that much sales in a single year ever.

854d ago 6 agree4 disagreeView comment

Nah this is just to try to get additional sales before end of March because Playstation wants to hit a new record of 25 million sold in a year and they're close to achieving that goal

"The funny thing about this is that Sony probably prefers people"

For a game that has cross play with PC I think they just want more sales in general so I doubt they have a preference here

Difference is that Nintendo turned their failure into 3 consecutive 100+ million consoles/handhelds. How many Xbox systems have sold over 100 million? ZERO

Missing targets 2 years straight and now coming up 3rd straight year of missing targets and now high cost of this purchases makes Gamepass unsustainable.

Without Playstation and Nintendo sales they're leaving too much on the table. 25 million potential Xbox customers who don't buy games. Release games on the Switch and Playstation and 25 million goes up to 170 million potential customers.
