You could say that for any shooter game
game of the year from gametrailers maybe, but basically every website does goty, i think IGN will be the one people care about.
I'm pretty sure gears will beat resistance in sales due to the larger shooter crowd, but it doesn't mean it's the better game.

Tomb Raider is now buried in the bought out Sony exclusives pile. Just like Crash, Spyro and Tomb Raider. Uncharted is the new king of adventure games.

I know lots of games under 9.0 on metacritic that I would consider AAA. Average score doesn't mean anything. Its all about your experience playing it and your own opinions.
eg, Super Mario Galaxy. Yes its a fun game, but I get bored after an hour. Not a touch on Mario 64, or the NES/SNES Marios. So ...
