actually it was originally announced as a 360 exclusive later all hell brakes loose when it was registered to the ESRB under both 360 and PS3 hinting a imminent time exclusive, later after all the forums went insane it mysteriously vanished form the ESRB

I have had the problem. I always update. Had my console 7 months, December 06, 1 3-red rings, gets loud sometimes, Everyone I know, in person has already sent their 360 back at least once, Tom has already twice....

I guess not saying anything at this time might indicate that they are in a testing and evaluating face with the heatsinks, looks like MS is testing if the heatsink will actually eliminate the problem if it wont then they might consider some more heavier measures (probably re design the cooling system)
I dont know if testing it straight on the consumers is such a great idea (speacilly for the consumer :?) but its practical and might throw in results faster than a in-house testi...

that is actually true, I treat all my consoles with extreme care, even completly clean them once a week, that is why my NES and even Atari are fully functional and look brand new, I treated my 360 with even more care knowing it could die, I didnt even played that much and STILL it died on me
so basically the "360 doesn’t die if you take good care of it" is complete and major BS
I wonder if this actually fixes anything?, remember how it was said that in order to fix the overheating problem MS needed to completely redesign the cooling system, and I think a simply heatsink might not do the whole trick
but well lets wait and see
one thing I wonder is how this guy knew that there was another heatsink in his particular 360 to actually opened it, they got a mail from a "source" saying MS might use it, but a coincidences that the same...
