Knight_Crawler, those facts are hilariously wrong. And take a look at the Wii U GamePad, then a tablet. Notice anything different? Actual controls, not just a touchscreen. That's a HUGE difference. Playing an FPS like N.O.V.A. 3 on my 4.65 Galaxy Nexus screen is cool, but you are kidding yourself if you think you can do it all without physical controls. That's what makes the $300 Wii U different to a whole console plus an big expensive tablet.

Well I play FPS games, as well as many other forms of games just to have fun, so I'll play anything on anything that is entertaining. PC controls for FPS games are of course superior to anything consumers cna acquire currently, but I'm getting this for the Wii U as it looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

Yes, you can buy whatever portable HDD you want and plug it into the Wii U via USB. Though it's not required to install all the games you get onto the Wii U like the PS3 as its disc read speed is around triple the PS3's, meaning you won't require a lot of storage, unless you purchase all your games digitally.
