That's normal these things happens to me before the update god of war ascension has a couple sound hitches during cut scenes nothing gamebreaking tho do you have A 7200 rpm hdd in your ps3 because from my experience they can give errors every now and then 5200rpm runs better imo even though I still have A 7200 rpm I'm my ps3 lol too lazy to swap it out
my 160 ps3 slim(Now 500gb) is working fine after the update as well

You needed A beefy CPU for pc as well when gtaIV released I believe rockstar recommended A core 2 quad for gta.

Dev kits contain the same hardware as the final product except the dev kits have more ram not different CPU and gpus etc
Actually sony and panasonic own most patents for blu ray players and discs meaning both would receive royalties for every xbone sold. patents=royalties why you think sony fought toshiba so hard in the infamous blu ray vs. HDDVD and losing billions putting it inside the PS3 and paying Warner Bros. off was the last nail in HDDVD's coffin courtesy of sony.

By installing via USB flash drive while your ps3 is in safe mode in fact you can't reinstall the the 4.45 firmware that way and your ps3 should work again at least that way you won't have to wait until next week on Sony you can fix it now.
