Good article and very good points, squeenix been riding the nostalgia wave and has cost them plenty, and forcing lighting on gamers isn't helping either.
They lost that magic they had of making games that would consume your hours, explore that part on the world map that's still blacked out just because you didn't want to stop playing, and after you finish that game you'd actually miss the characters and the world they lived.

I think its depending of when you started gaming, I started on Atari and intellevision, that he-man game sucked. Loved the Nintendo and supernintendo eras those were about gameplay and quirkiness, but my favorite is the ps2, Xbox one, that Xbox was a beast and most used.

This is not a proper way to test the difficulty, it should be played stealth, and see how difficult it is to avoid being detected.
