The thing that has personally turned me off of Octopath is how the other party members basically have nothing to do with the story of your currently chosen protagonist. I've not played the game but that's what I've read and seen. I know it's the kind of thing that would take me right out of the experience.

Ah, I wish I could play it for the first time again with those changes. I honestly struggled to finished from chapter 8 or 9 onwards. It was the mystery of the world and how invested I was in the characters that kept me going. The music as well was just on another level, I still listen to roaming the wastes a year after I finished. Xenoblade Chonicles will re-ignite any love you had for the genre. The original that is. The second one, whilst still had me completely hooked and loving the world/story, had me hating the gameplay and grind.
He is right. There's a metric ton of filth games on steam which get immediately shafted to page 100 it seems, the fate of this "game" would've been no different.
