There was no competition between Sony and MS and Nintendo last gen.
This gen, Nintendo is far and away the most successful but PS3 and 360 is closer than most people think.

At this stage they have nothing that wow's me like some upcoming PS3 games are doing and that is what I want to see.

Splinter Cell is an excellent series and I think it is more 'stealthy' than Syphon Filter is and probably a more apt comparison.
Microsoft will be fine (as will Sony and Nintendo). They won't exit gaming, at least not any time soon.
But I think they do need to announce what is coming and give us something for it.

Perfect example - EA's reluctance to announce Mass Effect 2 as either 360 or PS3/360 or whatever it might be.

If the PS3 and 360 released at the same time, the PS3 would be second. And that is a fact base on yearly worldwide averages.
