With games you take the role of the protagonist, pushing the narrative through personal interaction. Experiencing a film is more sedentary. We are spectators looking in.
Digitized versions of celebrities in games have always struck me as bizarre. Guiding Norman Reedus through Silent Hill isn't going aid in my immersion, it's only going to detract from it, regardless of how well he acts.
