It's going to go the Final fantasy 15 route. It will, and it should. Im sorry to say it so bluntly but I honestly dont see how it can go anyother way. The dude thats directing it hasnt made any other game but action rpgs, the proofs right there.
Lol im Surprise this question is really being asked. Why dont we bring back Ned Stark from the dead while where at it.
Noones doing turn base anymore because its stale, If you want FF7 remake to be turn based thats fine just dont pretend like its a breath off fresh air for Jrpgs.
@CorndogBurglar
Keyword in the quote you took from me is anymore, its been 14 years since final fantasy 10 and 18 since final fantasy 7 probably 20+ by the time this game comes out. Im not saying turn based games arn't good
But its time for Final fantasy to move on. In a modern game like pokemon I can fully understand why its turn based because your giving your pokemon commands to do so it fits the situation thus not breaking immersion. In Persona 4 it relies on t...
The remake can certainly be a better "Game" than the original but in order to do so Square cannot be afraid to experiment with certain things. That being said the core story should and probably will remain the same, because as we all know a good story is timeless, But mechanically FF7 needs to be redone IMO. Everything but the materia system should be redone to fit modern day standards.
As much as i loved the orginal i really feel like ff7s remake should expand on ff15 battle system while retaining the ability to play with all ur party members. I love turn based games as much as the next guy, but it just doesnt work for every game anymore final fantasy is among them. And people please dont give me the excuse that turn base is more strategic than an action rpg because it really isnt. 95% of ff7 battles revolves around you waiting ur turn spamming ur strongest attack and heali...
I hope not....

@Twiggy
Dude im with you, Action rpg is the way to go for the remake....This topic is going to split the community in two lmao
You and I both know the remake needs to be an action rpg after advent children theres no other way they can go
Dude turn base is a niche genre, Whats the point of the upgraded graphics if it still plays like its from 1997? Why people are soo afraid of a japanese action rpg is beyond me. Turn base fits a game like persona or pokemon better where there are weaknesses to exploit on an enemy so you have to constantly be switching around personas or pokemon to do so. In Final fantasy 7 once you pick ur gear and materia u cant nor would you need to constantly be changing them around in the middle of a battl...
JRPG fans are the reason JRPGS are on the decline. Its like you guys are stuck in this turn base rut. I waited too long for this remake and im not about to let the vocal minority influence square to stick to the tired 20 year old battle system.
P.S with that said, If Turn base is the only way FF7 can work then fine, but if we have an opportunity to experience FF7 in a new way that will probably bring more fans to the series then why not go for it?
personas battle system is nothing amazing, the orginal ff7 battle system is probably better than persona 4s, Persona games are just so good that u couldnt care less what u where fighting just along as u can get to a next dialogue point in the story. With that said i enjoyed persona 3 battle system better, as much as I appreciated being able to use all my party members in persona 4 persona 3 battles where faster and alot more fun seeing as shadows didnt reflect or null every attack except ther...
Id rather the change to action, I think action fits Final fantasy 7 style better IMO, leave turn base to persona and other games, sorry to say turn base combat has no place in a triple A title anymore. Its just the truth, there will never be another turn base game that sells over 10 million copies ever I can promise you that, And thats the bare minimum square expects to sell.
P.S what do you guys expect, the chibi characters on the world map? random battles? that era is don...
I think it all depends on how well final fantasy 15 does if they change the combat or not. Personally i rather action combat but i wouldnt mind the turn base combat, id be alittle disapointed though.
No you wouldnt be.
lmaooo Im in the same boat bro xD.
Cant say its the best rpg ever but its definitely in the upper tiers of rpgs. Probably the best Wrpg on the market right now
Not that i dont agree with you on how good bloodborne and the souls series is ( i bought them all on or around release date) I really dont get the rabid fans behind it, like seriously, this is the one game that was made to be a niche title made from a japanese studio that has a fanbase this strong. I know souls games are good but idk there not UP There for me. people that like souls games usually rank it as there favorite game of all time or somewhere there, and on that level i just dont see ...
I think TW3 is the best WRPG i ever played, i just think Jrpgs deserve there own category. They are 2 fundamentally different styles and approaches to rpgs. Persona 5 is coming out this year and is probably going to get equal reviews scores to the witcher 3 but id have a hard time comparing the 2 games and saying which one is better than which.
FF7 remake with ff15 gameplay, with the ability to switch between party members. Thats what im hoping for.
