This is NOT like the iPhone situation. In the iPhone situation, it gave you the freedom to do what you please with the phone without tampering with another's device. But even that opened up a can of worms. iPhone was hacked only a few months after the initial "jailbreak." I remember seeing the news where they say that your iPhone can be unlocked (that is, if your phone happens to be password enabled).
