They a added folders last year, right?

These do benefit the legitimate consumers, though. You have to look at the long-term view. Did you never wonder why software support for the PSP declined so sharply? Or (admittedly to a lesser extent) for the Xbox 360 or Dreamcast? Rampant piracy.

Piracy diminishes the profitability of games, which makes it harder had harder for developers to justify porting or localizing games to a heavily pirated platform and make it so only big-budget titles are viable--but even those don&...

The PS4 OS is rubbish. Vita's crappy smartphone OS is pretty bad too, but not so bad as the PS4.

And basic features aren't things like custom soundtracks. Its stuff like folders and sorting options and generic media playback.

And I wouldn't count on the PS4 OS getting fixed any time soon, as the PS3's own XMB is still missing basic features--like the ability to sort games or other media alphabetically within a folder.

Or not.

Honestly I've forgotten most of it already. Sure, it was very cinematic, but the gameplay was anything but memorable.

It should be remembered simply as a quintessential example of the whole "set piece game" trend popularized on Sony's platform.

Or as one of the countless symptoms of Sony becoming increasingly anti consumer as they continue to try try and sell people slightly different versions of the same game.

I made it to the Calm Lands on Vita and just gave up.

Yay!

I'm hoping for a rogue like metroidvania game based on Egyptian mythology. Or Scandinavian.

It is silly, but not that silly. I think the XB3 wins the prize for stupidest platform name.

That said, the WiiU would probably get more traction in the English speaking world if it were called something like the Super Nintendo Wii.

This is not a tease for a new game. Christ, people, you need to allow Nintendo to acknowledge that Majora's Mask is a thing that exists.

Or SNES. Or Android. Or WiiVC.

Of course its not an ordinary remake: its a port.

I doubt it will ever happen. Nintendo is unique in that their primary target audience is children--who don't have the steady income necessary to pay for a regular subscription.

This is the same reason why there'll never be a Pokemon MMO.

Er... Segmenting isn't about level design. Its about the game only loading the terrain for a single area at a time, whereas open world games stagger terrain loading based on player location.

IE a segmented world has the game area segmented into different areas that you must transition between, whereas open worlds are, well, open. This is why you can see cities miles away in skyrim, but can't see Kakariko from Hyrule Field, for example!

The original NES game, maybe, but nothing else. Many Zelda games are Segmented Worlds, which is a different thing.

The only FPS games in the last decade that didn't bore the hell out of me were Half Life 2 and Borderlands 2.

As a "genre," I don't think FPS is played out or anything, its just that the genre has narrowed to the point where subgenres no longer exist.

And some of my favorite games of all time were FPS subgenres: mechwarrior and freespace.

You have no clue what inflation means, do you?

The Dollar is the weakest its ever been. Wages have been constant, too, thanks in large part to Republicans.

You also need to keep in mind that, in the U.S. at least, wages have stayed constant while the buying power of the dollar has diminished. Shelling out $50 today for Wind Waker HD is a bigger hit to our wallets than paying $75 for Majoras Mask was 15 years ago.

In short, there are many variables to consider.

And absolutely no one should be whining about consumer criticism when the industry arbitrarily raises standard prices, like they did in 2005, or rip consu...
