Really as a Sony fan, I believe that the PS3 has a more varied line up of games to be excited for. Sony is quite skilled ,as shown by it's previous console, at providing a line up that is different. Games such as MGS4 and Ratchet make the line up exciting. My only problem with the 360 is that it seems to provide only a certain type of game and then tries to offer different types of games that don't quite live up. Still I love both consoles and enjoy seeing the competition between the two.
Personally I favor Geometry Wars because of it's addictiveness. Then again, I didn't have the privilege of growing up during that Golden ages of arcade games so I can't really judge them fairly.
I do believe this article has validity though. I can remember analysts predicting a new Microsoft product as well as a new Nintendo product by the year 2010 based on the console life-span. Despite this, I don't think Sony is getting ready to bring out their next console for some time.
Sorry but Survival Horror has never been a thing for me. Still I really do enjoy hearing about these games, only one I might check out would be RE5
Mirror's Edge was definitely worth checking out but I do think a lot of people completely overlooked this game.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the Wii, but I do respect them highly. I favor people and companies that can step outside the box and make something new and innovative. Say what you will, but Nintendo is still the most innovative and creative gaming company around.
I think the Iphone could in time become a valuable handheld contender. MGS Touch comes to mind.
