I think were Final Fantasy are concerned though their success and commercialism has done well for bridging the gap between WRPG's and JRPG's.
But it all depends on how good the game is at the end of the day. If it sucks people will hate it but if it's decent then more people will regain confidence in the series/genre.

Ok i have my views on piracy but this doesn't sit with them.
Yes you can argue that they are not stealing but the point is to download this legitimately for a tiny amount of money is possible but it would take them an extra five minutes to complete the form.

There is piracy and then there is just being sick. This is just wrong on so many levels.
I get the violence but gore? I've had grazes that where more gory than Manhunt 2. Those games both just seemed like headline grabbers. They were fun tp play but lets not pretend they were a gore fest like Assclown said the graphics where nowhere near good enough.
I cannot wait for this game to get confirmed UK release. It's going to wipe the floor with Guitar Hero etc. Just for the all round experience.

I don't disagree that R* growing up is a good thing, in fact the opposite. But GTA IV trying to make the series more mature is no excuse for a poor story and it wasn't really any more mature if anything it was the most immature they have put out for this generation. When a game makes the leap from console to your life that is when it truly is great and will be one of those games that are remembered for years to come.
It's not so much about the numbers its about the impact which a game has, not just on the industry, but on the players that makes it truly great.
