@stuna1 The PS5 GPU is not clocked lower. It is clocked higher. It has fewer CUs than the XSX, and at the moment, overall understanding from both sides of the camp is that XSX is quicker due to the higher number of CUs in the GPU, but we currently do not have any comparisons as to amount of workload the CUs in both PS5 and XSX are able to perform in a set amount of time. Maybe we will know more once the HotChips conference comes.

Sony's preemptive strike is an arrow to the knee of Microsoft's marketing campaign of Teraflops. They were probably thinking what most of us were that the SSD is just faster in terms of transferring data. But when more information leaked that the I/O is revolutionary in that it does not follow the industry standard of PC I/O for peripherals, they immediately saw the light and straight clammed up. Nothing like this has been done before, and they probably already have an inkling in t...

MS and Xbox fans are going to have to work harder over the next few months to FUD the PS5.

Everyone remembers what Ubisoft did with their bait and switch development of Watch Dogs and other games in their catalog, EA's Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem , Bethesda's Fallout 76, Microsoft's Halo 5:Guardians, Sony's Resistance: Fall of Man?

All these games final outlook didn't portray the feel of what they were supposed to.
Better take all these with huge grains of salt before the launch.

Talks about Xbox Series X but then shows the game trailer on a PC running an Nvidia GPU. What's the co-relation?

@1Victor Do expect more of the 'What Sony can do, Xbox can do better' articles as well. There's going to be a whole lot of of marketing to ensure that this message is transmitted across.

@I_am_Batman Well that is understandable, but you're ignoring the fact that the power usage for the PS5 is fixed constant and will rarely if ever exceed this limit, unlike the XSX which will pull more power from the power supply if needed and this will cause the fans to spin up. The PS5 power supply is designed in to the specification and that is taking in to consideration the higher clocks that the CPU/GPU is working at. You're under the assumption that the system cannot dissipate t...

Microsoft played 2-d chess here with the teraflop angle. Sony one-upped them by going 3-d. Mind blown!!!

Those who are developing on the PS5 and Xbox have signed non-disclosures. They cannot talk about it. Nothing is said about their colleagues who haven't signed the non-disclosures. I'm guessing that Crytek developer "eavesdropped" on the conversations from his colleagues. Best guess.

I understand them trying to address the mass market with the appeal of Warhammer 40k games for the casual gamer, but perhaps Games Workshop might want to also address their fans with some AAA games for the PC platform too?
C'mon guys, throw us a frickin' bone here, dammit.

Show us the source, and it better not be from Misterxmedia, or is that you ??

@Echo. The word you're looking for is throughput. The sum of all parts. The time take from point of data input to the output on to the screen and the controller. This will be the big part of it. One system is balanced from the get-go. The other has some bottlenecks. Guess which is which.

Potential use of the SSD on the PS5. Possible?

Also, the fast SSD seems to strike a similar idea that AMD has with their Radeon Instinct SSG cards with built in SSD and with the use of HBCC could be a winner here. In essence, giving more memory to the CPU and game logic, Ray-Tracing and Inferencing.

@Donnie81 Aggressiveness is a factor in the logic of the system. In fact, if you go back to the video, Cerny did mention that in their testing, the GPU actually wanted to clock higher than what they were aiming for and Sony had to limit it to 2.23GHz speed.

Results speak for itself or rather be heard. You shouldn't be disparaging it until you've heard it.
Just imagine playing a new Silent Hill game with ray traced sound and VR. I'd imagine you'd be crapping your pants before every corner.

You guys are talking like the Xbox Series X is going to walk all over the PS5. All you guys are talking about is specifications, but there is a huge elephant in the room which is the price. I'm guessing Sony is targeting either the 399 or 499 range, which Microsoft's beast of a machine is never going to touch that price point, and when Sony does announce the price point, Microsoft is going to throw a bait and switch and launch the cheaper Lockhart hardware instead, and all of the sp...

The PS5 is a better balanced system overall with processor, memory, GPU, storage and I/O being optimized for each other. A better balanced system leads to a more optimized system which reduces costs overall as there are no parts idle that would add to the cost but never deliver any additional performance or outcome. Let's wait and see which one performs better in games. I also believe that Mark Cerny didn't completely reveal all the hardware components present in the PS5 hardware d...
