Heh, the first paragraph is riddled with misinformation.
They didn't create two Wolfenstein games, nor did they create Doom 3.

Multiplayer maps for RTCW and Doom3 only, did however develop Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars.

Their only original IP is Brink.

That is the most intelligent and good hearted thing I've ever read on N4G.com ever.
An eBay action for the N4G PAX Swag Giveaway is a wonderful idea.

By that comment, sir, you have earned my total respect.

This is a game I wouldn't mind having ported to other platforms.
The last time a Disney game got me involved and interested, was Kingdom Hearts.

Epic Mickey has got me involved and interested again.
I sadly do not own a Wii.

If it's because he's trying to raise the money to to pay off the outstanding wages of his former employees, it's a great thing.

It then shows he does care.

Of course, it's all speculation IMO.

This is true.
ET:QW was totally abandoned by ATVI because of CoD4.

Adding a 3rd person mode will defeat much of the FPS intended experience of Brink.
Many surprise elements and ambush opportunities etc would vanish.

This is an objective based shooter from a developer with great experience in its field. You couldn't have added 3rd person to Wolf: ET or ET: QUAKE Wars.

This is turning out to be a total console war thread :/

The Steam platform today isn't what it was a few years back.
I too also was at a negative towards Steam until 2 years or so back.

Of course, if you're familiar with today's Steam, and still don't want to use it, that's your entitlement.

That depends on time the storyline is set.

Unless Respawn develops their very own engine, I'd really hope they would go for the fantastically modified id Tech 3 engine -XreaL. They have great experience with id Tech 3, and the previous blockbuster game releases to prove it.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's engines are both based on id Tech 3, although very modified like XreaL, but I imagine it's in Infinity Ward and ATVI's legal posession.

Find Xr...

Superior version will of course be the PC.
Both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 have their limits, while the PC have no limits.

It's always been like this, simply because of the hardware.
That is, unless the game is developed for consoles and ported to the PC... like CoD: Modern Warfare 2.

Still, the PC version has more customization option and more power to up the look and feel of the game.

Splash Damage have always been about the gamer's experience.
The company's core is a bunch of modders and are all of the same mindset.

From creating the DOOM 3 multiplayer maps, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars as a smaller team and company, to developing Brink as a major studio with hundreds of employess where a good few are quite high profiled personalities, they still have the same mentality as when they were fresh.

It seems like the developers and publishers think that every gamer on the planet are all connected to the internet and are playing big multiplayer titles.

This is very much untrue, many gamers have no interest in playing online, and are simply purchasing their games for the single player and stories. My sons for instance, they don't have their consoles connected.

I'm from the PC side of FPS gaming.

Although the CoD series are one of the planet's best selling and most popular FPS games to ever hit the platforms, I can feel excited no longer about the new releases.

After MW2, which is probably the best installment in the series, set aside the flaws in gameplay, copious amounts of exploits and so on -ATVI and IW ruined the series as a whole for me. They bled it dry.

They also did, although ...

The new-gen 2D fighting games has great replay value as well.
Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV to name the top ones.

Didn't the original PlayStation feature this with regular CD's?
I remember playing the Die Hard Trilogy and swapping out the game disc for an audio disc to listen to my music.

Indeed.

My whole gaming community went crazy over Borderlands' initial release, and the DLC's. I suspect this will happen once again.
