Well I have to admit I wasn´t always a Half-life fan... For me it was no different than Doom or Quake at that time... hell I had more fun playing Duke nukem 3d
When the Orange Box came out I decided to give it a try since I had already played Portal & already knew about the Cinematic Mod (7.0 at that time)... I loved it!
Now I couldn´t do the same with HL1... Despite I already knew this was the game that started all...
Amnesia is the only true horror game there...
Still haven´t beat the 1st one... it´s just sitting there waiting for me to man-up & finish collecting those orb pieces :S
but it´s just too much

I overcame the "the texturing aged and the animations stilted" with a list of almost 50 mods running at the same time. I´m also alternating with the DLC as well, so I´m currently in the Big MT & still have Lonesome Rd waiting in line
Maybe it didn't sell as much as CoD whatever... but it sure is a better game by far.

I would like jungle levels like the ones in BC2: Vietnam DLC... with no high-tech weaponery. Just a couple of squads surviving hordes of Raptors
And then, just as in L4D, as soon as the T-Rex & the other big guys start showing.... a single tank would spawn (better yet parachuted in) on different spots and even crates with more advanced weapons

I´ve been using an overcloked HD 5850 (@850MHz 1200MHz) ever since they came out & it was only after playing BF3 that I´m considering an upgrade (even though it runs smoothly @ +40 FPS everything on High)
And yes, this was 3 years ago! And I bet that the so called "next-gen" will be no grater than my current gaming rig

The only thing I dislike about EA/Dice regarding BF3 is the whole Premium Strategy... Why am I being neglected as a non-Premium player only because I didn't purchase their Close Quaters DLC? Now these kids are getting tons of 2XP events almost twice a month while the rest of us need to level up normally...
And don't even get me started on the Kit Shortcuts... Level 1 kids running around & killing me with weapons it took me precious Hours to get
