That isn't logic, it is damage control. If sony themselves were to put it that way then maybe people wouldn't assume the worst but soothing words from so called insiders cannot be taken at face value.

Why not compare Xbox 1 sales from the previous week with PlayStation 4 sales for this week?
Xbox one sold 105,000 units in the US when Titanfall dropped.

As a director of the game, his work was not done until the game is at least completed. On top of that as a high ranking person at the studio, it is difficult to believe that he would just up and go start an indie studio after many many years at Evolution.
