Fallout? Wouldn't bank on it. I would guess Bethesda is working on TES Online and won't bring out a Fallout Online for quite a while.

No, grahf has the right of it. Interplay could not prove it fulfilled the financing requirement in court, and they had to give up even the old games' rights (from 2014 onwards) just to get $2 million, a good chunk of which will indeed already have gone to their team. This is a very decisive victory by Bethesda, and an unsurprising one.

I like how this post doesn't even reach 50 degrees while all-important stuff like "the best water in video gaming" makes the top bar. Good job getting your priorities straight, N4G.

What can one say? It was awesome. Especially Golden Axe II.

I dunno about best ever (like the above mentioned, Streets of Rage 2), but damn, ToeJam & Earl was the shit.

How the hell did this get approved? This is duplicate news from news a week old. http://n4g.com/news/787787/...

Though it seems to be a new email message so did they take another security step by changing people's passwords? In either case, hardly news.

This year was all about a really strong lineup. Still, as Dragon Age 2 showed, sometimes games can really let you down. The Witcher 2 is, as I mentioned in the review, the best *so far*. Will it hold up down the line (and we focus on RPGs) to Mass Effect 3, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Skyrim? Wait and see. But you're right in that the potential is surely there, and that's an exciting thought.

I don't know about consistently. They farmed out Neverwinter Nights 2 and Knights of the Old Republic 2, and their recent sequels have been uneven (I personally felt ME2 to be better than ME1), but Baldur's Gate II blew Baldur's Gate out of the water.

So they have a mixed history in this field.

When people complain about the ton of sequels, like at the recent E3, I just point to this kind of stuff. This game gets panned everywhere yet it sells well, based purely on the name. That's why we have so many sequels.

I agree. The principle of what Zeschuk is talking about is solid (sequels allow for more refinement and bigger investments, thought with less innovation to them), but on the tail end of Dragon End II it's kind of an unfortunate source for this point to come from.

RF Online for $0.01? Sometimes Amazon's automated price system has amusing results.

The author of this article does realize only one of those titles is actually developed by Bethesda, right? Prey 2 is being made by Human Head.

Multiplayer was ruled out by BioWare to Game Informer just a few months ago: http://www.joystiq.com/2011...

Smells like a fake story.

Well, without being too much of a downer, it's worth noting these are so called "bullshots", edited for PR purposes, which Bethesda is notoriously good at. How representative it is of how Skyrim looks remains up in the air. Oblivion didn't look or play much like some of its early showings either.

Still, it does look pretty damn good. They'd already improved for Fallout 3, they just seem to be improving further.
