You can still have both applications running at the same time on PS4 and easily switch back and forth by double tapping the PS button. Only difference on XB1 is that you bring up both applications at once. Switching back and forth is easy not much of a hassle considering that both of the consoles last gen couldn't do this and considering the browser on PS4 is faster I'm sure I can look something up quicker and get back to my game before you snap everything...
