Well, checkerboarded 4k is certainly a very noticable step up compared to 1080p. I never regretted for a second that I got one. Have you seen how good Sony's own games look on it?

The Witcher has quite decent checkerboard rendering. It looks great even on a large tv. It took them quite a few patches to get hdr right without sacrificing lod, but it's been there for a year now. I don't know who told you it has poor hdr. It's not great, but it's not bad either.
Days Gone looks amazing on pro! Super crispy image with excellent hdr (well obviously hdr is present on base ps4 too)
4k with no AA still has noticable pixel crawl. Take a look at L.A Noire. Native 4k, no AA, plenty of crawl and shimmering
They're typically not. Obviously the gap is smaller than between xbox one and x, because the base xbox is so horrendously underpowered. But I'd say that jumps from 1080p to checkerboard 4k is quite significant. Not as significant as 720p to native 4k mind you, but identical they're not. Not even close.
