If you buy the game new the publisher only makes the retail price off of the game. If you buy used and have to pay an additional $10.00 for a pass to get the content that comes with the new then you are paying an extra $5.00 dollars for a used game. Between the used market and pirating of games the industry is hurting, so if you love this hobby as much as you claim than buy new and quit supporting the real greedy party at gamestop.

They were all given free given copies of MW3 and free elite passes, so they were cheering because they don't have to pay.

Gearbox did not make Duke Nukem forever. 3D realms were the developer and gave a lot people their start in the industry, including Randy Pitchford. DNF was his way of helping Scott Miller of Apogee/3D realms see that 12+ years were not wasted.

Google 2011 video games studio closing and tell everyone that used game sales aren't harming the industry. When development cost are reaching titanic proportions and studio are hemorrhaging money and employees publishers must do what they can to recoup development cost. Video games do not have the luxury of say the movie industry, where if a movie flops at the theater they can find massive success on home video DVD and Blu-Ray. If a games doesn't find an audience it's first time a...

I was at the Gearbox event this weekend and Randy did not mention Borderlands 2. He talked about implementing a system in Borderlands 1(pc)that would allow a select few in the Gearbox community to have access via a patch and cloud based servers to some of the tools used in house for random gun generation and things like turning off gravity to see how physic would react. This would basically be a grassroots way of testing for bugs and general community feedback for future Gearbox titles. Every...

FFXIV was a complete broken disaster. Square should be happy that it wasn't nominated the VGA's would have gotten hate mail for a another bad game being nominated.

I wholeheartedly agree. The only comparisons would be leading another character to safety for the duration of the game. ICO said more in silence than every perfectly motion captured/ voice acted scene of Enslaved.

Heavenly Sword was on every television and movie screen pretty much in the world. And with the yet again slim selection of the PS3 launch window it sold do too great adverstising and lack of anything to play on the system. Namco/Bandai did little to no advertising for Enslaved. Mixed with lackluster pre-launch reviews people were just not interested in Enslaved.

I am a huge fan of ninja theory, but enslaved suffers from poor design decisions. Ninja theory wanted so badly to have a mainstream hit that the gameplay became a watered down hand holding mess. The main character as dynamic as his personality is is not appealing from a visual point of view. You cannot tell a persons personality by screen shots and my first impression was huge douche bag, I played through half of the game before having to put down from lack of challenge in combat, platforming ...

First of all Caslevania made it's debut on the Famicom (NES)in Japan in 1986. It featured the main character exploring outdoor/indoor environments and destroying mythological creatures with a whip. That was 1986 so if my math is right that pre-dates the 2005 release of GOW by 19 years and the Playstation 2 by 14 years. As far as who is aping who? I have been playing games for going on 30 years, so I know my roots. GOW and DMC were both re-interpretations of the formula that Castlevania he...

Yeah USB sticks are nice in theory, but USB 2.0 isn't made for high speed transfer. If you have an arcade game loaded on one it takes forever and a day to load off the stick as opposed to onboard 4gb or an HDD.

Alan Wake is doing well because it has been out this generation already and it was called Alone on the dark. I'll run down a little checklist you you.
1:Amnesiac
2:Episodic set-up
3:Evil spirits/demon inhabit humans
4:Evil spirits/demons can only be killed by fire/light
5:Poor driving sections.
You transpose AID from the east to the west coast and voila' Alan Wake.

I would love the option on the PS3 to install the game to my HDD. It would take care of most technical issues with this version.

Alan Wake is a great looking game even with lower res textures. What Alan Wake lacks is originality. I have played this game once before. I believe it was called Alone in the dark. Transpose the gameplay from East to West Coast and the frame work is exactly the same. Here is the punchlist:Amnesia (check),possession(check), enemies that can only be killed byconventional weopons after exposure to fire/light(check), poor driving section(check) and faux TV episode set-up,"last time on Alone ...

Devil May Cry (PS2) and RE4(PS2/GC) were the pinnacle of what Capcom was capable of for me. Like many studios excited at making a quick buck they hand off the development duties to a group of people that have no business with their IP. Internally it is no different, cough, cough DMC2. Then we get RE5 where the team is doing nothing to move the franchise forward, so we'll be controversial. With rumors of Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword) developing a re-launch of the DMC, I was genuinely excited...
