Well technically they do, because scores DO influence sales, and without decent sales the games wouldn't get made/have lower production values.
As a long time Resi fan, I don't really know what to think. Part of me thinks this is retarded but part of me thinks it could be awesome. I liked Resi Outbreak and this sounds like it's in a similair vein (although a hell of a lot more action orientated). It's just the fact that it's set in the Resi world, I can't say no.

Good post dude. I think Far Cry 2 is another one of those games that is actually worse when installed.
Oh and The Last Remnant gets significantly better when you install it. It has a a horrible frame rate and freezes sometimes when it's not installed, but it's perfectly smooth when installed.
As you've mentioned, most of the time I just install games because it makes the console quieter while playing and sometimes the load times are slightly impro...
