i want to believe same as you but the threat to NX will be smartphones. Around 7 years ago almost everyone in public transport had a NDS, now i don't see a single one playing on adedicated handheld console. So i hope Nintendo aren't going all casual on this one because i don't see anything capable of making people let go of their phones.
MS rushed 360 and they weren't very sure of what they wanted their console to look like and offer.
They started releasing a low ass 360 lacking HDMI port and wifi sensor, then they updated the SKU once all these things were finally decided.
I agree they had a good chance against PS3 due to exclusive games in the first year and especially the lower price, but they gave up supporting it the right way around 5 years ago where all that counted for them were Gears Halo Forza ...

With Nintendo it never comes to the hardware but to the games.

First episode was below their expectations, and instead of working on the weakpoints to make the sequel more successful they choose to release it on the less popular platform. Now PS4 owners have to pay double X1 price (if not more) for the same game plus DLC a year later. 30$ should be sales price of reeditions of timed exclusivity like this one.
They also made a mistake choosing the release window because i think it will suffer from a very crowded holiday period due to lots of PS4...
