it's not that they are out of touch it's because the big video game developers keep trying to push NFTs and Crypto into games so they decided to launch a marketplace for them. Obviously most real gamers hate this push but no one knows who will win. All multiplayer games are not live service games so trying to say it's people who only love single player games complaining is wrong. Most live service games are shit by design. Instead of making a complete game they remove features and monetize them. Then they make it a grind so they have time to make the content that should of been there at launch.

It's because they want to push people to go digital only. They make more money and you can't share or resell it so they will increase sales even more.
If that's the case they could just make digital editions without the disc and the regular ones with the disc. It's just them trying to push people to digital only so they can make more money and stop you from reselling your copy.
It having no physical disc is a deal breaker. It's even more ridiculous when you consider all the random stuff they added, I mean they put a steel book case but then they decided a disc was too expensive.

These type of games are about the choices and the story. Some of the later releases may have faltered in those areas making them not as good as the original. But i don't see how this author wants them to innovate. It just seems like the author wants to play a different genre. What they need to do is come up with better stories and choices.

I think Sony has given up on their exclusive shooters. They haven't released a remaster for the Resistance series or a new SOCOM game either. I don't think Guerilla is in a rush to make Killzone since they have Horizon now too :(.
