I remember the Ps1 and Ps2 days very differently. The Dreamcast and Sega fans were absolutely crapped on by Ps fans online at that time. After the DC died the Xbox was the new favorite whipping boy. Some people have a problem with facts disagreeing with thier narrative though.

I did play through the Gears series on the 1X and loved it. I will be playing through Dead Space 1-3 as well.
