No MGS4 wasn't and the 4m figure for prologue includes downloads whereas VGC is just tracking boxed sales
Where in that link does it mention anything about MGS4 reaching 5 million? It says that the Metal Gear franchise sold 4.75m in that financial year which would include sales for PSP and PS2 games as well that were still selling in small quantities.
Also for Heavy Rain - 1.5m shipped to retail, 1.38m sold to consumers. You have to understand the difference between the two (i.e the number of units sitting in the 50,000 + videogame stores worldwide).
38 million PS3s sold into retailers by Sony, 36.6 millions PS3s sold by those retailers to consumers.
