a kinectless xb1 is just similar yet less powerful system than the ps4 , it would need to be significantly cheaper price for it to be competitive . i think its much more likely you'll see a kinect included bundled with games closer to the ps4 price even if MS has to eat the cost until hardware prices equals the price drop .
how much better would last of us have been without a multiplayer , great games can have both and the absence of one doesn't necessarily make the other better

ps2 sold 50+ million consoles after the 7th generation was started , there are huge numbers that don't buy consoles until its pretty long in the tooth

consoles yes , but i can remember paying 49.99 for Atari games same price as in the US . books were always more expensive in Canada as well , or maybe i'm getting too old and my mind is failing , which is very possible

i think a good way for ms to get aggressive competing with + would be giving BIG day 1 digital purchase discounts for gold subscribers, it would also help the transfer to digital which is what they wanted all along
