RE1 is the best of all time habds down never been more scared in my life and RE4 didnt even come close to being scary just intense in the begining. But my brother feeels the same way you do so IMO RE1 smashes RE4. RE4 awesome awesome game got all secerets on GC,PS2 and PC.
