Sorry man, while $70 US is still cheaper than other currencies: its also too high for the base price for games. And I say that as someone with a job, and a house, and kids. ESPECIALLY with COVID based financial difficulties around the fucking globe, a price hike is unnecessary and greedy.

I REALLY want to play Returnal myself, sci-fi roguelike with horror vibes? Right up my alley. I'm not paying 70 for it. FUll stop. I'll wait for a sale, or buy it used. Sorry House...

I could not finish Breath of the Wild. It was aimless and boring to me. Pretty, sure. But nothing about it felt like Zelda.

I definitely do not get all the people saying it perfected open world games and all that when it launched. It wasn't then, nor has it become, perfect. Its... fine. Its a slightly above average open world game, but that's it. Its not even that great a Zelda game.

It has nothing to do with social media and everything to do with social values in Japan. They view drug usage very harshly, and unlike their view on tattoos, it is not softening

So a Japanese company reacted as is socially expected in Japan to a Japanese actor being found guilty of breaking Japanese law.

Eh, I have a PS4 and at this point I only use it for exclusives. I get most titles on Xbox, for a few reasons, but mainly because: I prefer the controller and that's where most of my friends game. I like both systems a lot, but I haven't turned on my PS4 since Iconoclasts released. I got the "PS+ expired" email and basically said "meh". God of War I'm definitely getting, but after that? Basically nothing Sony for me until either Spiderman or Dragon Quest.

I actually was the same way until the Digital Foundry look. We don't have cable or anything, so my wife and daughter use the Xbox for netflix and movies basically all day long. The power ratings DF reported, and some quick energy usage calculators, showed me that upgrading would cost me a bit now, but save me money long term. For that alone I'm upgrading from the Day One Xbox to the S. I had planned to wait till Scorpio, but our power bill is stupid so any little bit to reduce is extr...

Soldierone: All five had their backs to the wall, and one was inside the spawn barrier so we couldn't do crap to get it.

Honestly, it was a team of kind of crappy players whose only recourse was to fall back on Bastion spam to win. I hadn't done a huge amount of looking into character counters at the time (it was my first day with the game). I can think of one or two plays that may have worked, but I was the only one on my team who seemed willing to run in and draw...

It works fine against one or two. Not five.

I mentioned five in the comment you responded to.

I have a similar problem with Bastion to the author. I kind of hate the character. I played a defense match where the attacking team had two Bastions on the payload in turret form the entire time. Didn't matter what we did as a team, we couldn't get in there long enough to kill more than one, and they had a third bastion in the wings. It left a bad taste in my mouth about the character.

When we swapped to attack next round, I posted on the payload as Bastion alone, ...

I agree to a certain extent in regard to skill. Its not so much online shooters as it is shooter skill in general. I'm typically HORRIBLE at online shooters (i'm not very competitive and in almost all situations prefer coop over versus), however I love the shit out of Overwatch and find I'm actually really good. I still get blasted, but when I find my stride, I do well.

However, I will agree that its about skill as a teamplayer. If you can't play as a team,...

You know, all these petitions really only highlight the issue with numerical scoring and how much weight publishers put on the metacritic score.

They should be an indication that reviewing and scoring as it exists should change for the better. Either get rid of numerical grading or kill metacritics aggregation mechanic. Ideally, though, leave it as is and have publishers stop giving a shit about the numerical value metacritic assigns their product and focus on consumer resp...

If Rocksteady were doing this, I'd agree. But Virtuos looks like they have ignored RockSteady's art direction entirely and just tried to upres.. It looks awful.

Wow... As much as I love these games, and I really love them, I will definitely skip out on this if these screenshots are accurate. Everything looks muddy and unfinished, like they took the shots during the loading gap or something. Really WB, you should have thrown money at Rocksteady to do this. They could have kept it looking amazing and probably done the work in half the time...

@rainslacker:

I wasn't clear: My example with Uncharted was to dispute Makemyeyesrain's assertion that games that are "great" (a subjective term) should be sold at a premium price point. I simple used Uncharted, since they did, as my example of differing opinions.

I will never argue that games should be priced below the point of studio ability to profit. They should be sold at a point where the studio stands the best chance at making mon...

Quantum Break, like Alan Wake before it, had a fantastic, well written story. Which is extremely important in my overall enjoyment of 90% of games.

@kraenk:

I run the gamut from RPGs to Action games. I love the rebooted Tomb Raider series, adored Quantum Break, and find mild entertainment in Call of Duty. Currently, if it helps, I'm playing Dark Souls 3 and Ratchet and Clank. Dark Souls 3 is fantastic and Ratchet and Clank is good fun. I've got Doom on pre-order, as well as Star Ocean 5 and am dying for any hint of Persona 5's release, and waiting very patiently for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. I play a lot of...

The problem with this scheme is that what one person thinks is a great game may not be the same to someone else. For example, I hate the Uncharted franchise as a whole. Its boring, dumb as all hell, and the only saving grace is Nolan North's voice work. I would never pay 60 for one of them, hell I wouldn't pay 20. I'd play it for free, or for $15 or less.

And no one knows what is going to be a great game before its released. Maybe in very rare cases, but essenti...

I've got both, I don't actually like either more. I'll end up getting this on PS4, since its basically my RPG machine.

I go back and forth between the systems depending on which controller I prefer for which type of game.

However, the Xbox hardware is not to blame IN THIS instance. It is Unity. The article even says so. The Xbox is weaker, that is true. I also don't give a shit if it is. It's got fun games.

PS4 is stronger...

Its an Engine issue. Unity is not optimized for the Xbox. Dude even says so in the article. He says he is hopeful Unity will fix it, just doesn't know when.

3868d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

From the comments here, its like most people didn't read the article. Its pretty clearly stated that the issue is in the choice of engine, not in the system hardware itself.

Whether optimizing Unity should be MS' responsibility or not, the fact remains that the ENGINE is causing the issue, not the Xbox. If the engine was causing issue on PS4, most of you would be screaming about how the engine is terrible or the devs are terrible.

Not only that, but t...

It best be playable without the VR, because even with it being exclusive to VR, that VR system will not sell well enough to be worth the time and effort they have put into the game.

Sony's already said the VR set will be expensive, and I sure as hell am not buying one. And, frankly, if they've been showing off the game for this long WITHOUT VR, only to pull it back and hold it for the VR set, I don't think I'll reward Sony with a purchase of No Man's Sky e...
