I don't even get the whole stand-alone HD player thing to be honest.
For me, it's been obvious from day one that HD movie playback is a nice and logical ***feature*** of a gaming console. It's like I would never buy a stand-alone type writer or fax machine, CD player... these are hardware dinosaurs that barely even deserve their own software process!

they are a meaner and sharper cash machine so they spend a lot of money in focus groups and other pop radars. they also still have very smart programmers despite many unfortunate departures. as long as the 360 had the larger install base, the crappy programmers had exec support and that's why EA produced these embarrassing Ps3 ports. but now, the 360 supporters are having a much tougher time convincing execs that RRODs are no big deal and that they play in the same perf league as Ps3.

a screenshot always look worse than in full motion because there is smoothing by the rendering, the display and our vision that is associated with motion. this is why we should always use videos to make a visual assessment on a game but with crappy video compression or just lack of professionalism like GameTrailers's full RGB fiasco, developers are riding a fine line and I'm willing to give Insomniacs the benefit of the doubt.
