Cell is faster at math calculations. Thats why its used in supercomputers instead of RSX or Xenos.
Also to the point about RSX and the 7900 GT the RSX is faster at vertex and pixel shading than the 7900 GT.
You can actually run Crysis on a 7900 GT with most settings on high and a couple on low and almost do 30 fps.
I have to agree and disagree.
LED backlighting with local dimming rocks but its very expensive. Without a doubt its the best picture by far.
Destroys any plasma or regular LCD.
Its got the smoothness, clarity, & brightness of LCD but with better detail in dark scenes.
One more thing though, the burnin doesnt go away in seconds. It takes longer to go away than to come in. Sometimes part of it goes away and bits and pie...
Microsoft was smart to make a product that is more profitable for retailers.
Why do you think retailers push the Xbox360? Same reason. They make a killing on Xbox hard drives and Live cards.
I don't like the shot of the rock and grass.
I am no HT guru but even I know about the screen door effect on plasmas.
Anyone who knows anything about TVs knows that plasmas have screen-door effect.
Just google it.
@Mnichlas, you screwed up on one of the biggest problems with plasmas. BURN IN!
I went to Best Buy once and all the plasmas had Channel 2 burned in. I asked the guy who works there what happened and he said the feed stopped working so they put all the TVs o...
Exactly!
What GPU you have at home is what it is.
If you were playing a game with 8xMLAA at 30fps and you could switch to SSAA your framerate will be unplayably low. Theres now way you could turn on MSAA or SSAA and keep the same framerate.
Apparently all the fanboys on N4G who disagree with this comment know better than all the developers.
MLAA = fastest way to get 8xAA quality => better shaders, geometry, framerate
What DF actually said:
"AMD's solution has much in common with Sony's, but is fundamentally different in many ways. The fact that the God of War III MLAA operates on SPU has some very specific advantages - the Cell's satellite processors are far more flexible in terms of how they can be programmed, leading some to believe that GPU implementations will struggle to match the quality level."
The XBox360 has an outdated AMD GPU, buddy. If ...
There are still people who believe that the Milo "demo" was real?

@Loyd, don't be fooled.
Any 640x480 resolution CMOS sensor in any webcams is an "IR VGA camera." The reason the typical webcam doesn't capture IR is because there's an ADDED filter in EVERY webcam that blocks IR.
What the article calls "projector" is just an IR LED or IR Laser. Those are dirt cheap and used in everything from your TV remote to optical mouses (or mice).
As for the processing that turns the vid...
What the powerpoint put out by the Force Unleashed 2 developers showed was that the PS3's Cell processor performs, what is traditionally, a GPU operation, about 2-4x faster than the Xbox360's GPU.
This is why having the Cell onboard is such an advantage. It's almost like having a second GPU.
but it's a pretty bad architecture.
Not only is it 3 really slow processors, it's 1MB cache causes a lot of cache misses.
It's weak and inefficient according to it's designer.
In infamous 2, glowing objects cast light in real time, illuminating nearby objects.
Not so with Force Unleashed 2. The light sabres appear to glow but, in fact, aren't processed as light sources. As a result they do not illuminate nearby objects. Nearly all the lighting in that video is baked.
Even some PS2 games had more dynamic lighting than Force Unleashed.
For example, Champions: Return to Arms on PS2 had dynamic lighting and bump...
Regulation is the foundation of free and competitive markets.
Without regulation, markets move towards monopolies. Monopolies are anti-competitive.
We saw this with the telecom and banking sectors.
Regulating the telcos lowered costs and brought more competitors into the market and improved consumer choice and service experience. No one disputes it.
Deregulation eliminated competition in the banking sector as the banks were...
but she will buy a Wii.
By grandma i mean generally. Mine passed away a while ago.
Please explain.
The article says:
"Fanboy: A person, who for whatever reason believes his or her product, is better than the next."
So lets plug in some names to see how stupid this definition is:
Ferrari Fanboy: A person, who for whatever reason believes his or her Ferrari, is better than a Chevy.
Rolex Fanboy: A person, who for whatever reason believes his or her Rolex, is better than a Timex.
Blu-Ray Fanboy: ...
Seriously guys this is a joke.
GT5's day/night options and weather alone give you a million things more to do, even if you dont count Nascar and Karting, and because the cars are better modeled and have better phyics its just a much better sim. period.
NFS isnt even close, ladies.
Whats disappointing is Forza 3. PD had 140 people working on GT5 but Turn 10 had 300 people working on Forza 3!
