HD-DVD just keeps on losing. I feel really bad for anyone buying the players without knowing whats going on in the format war.
I can afford to buy my own games. Piracy is ruining gaming but I would love to see an Xbox 360 emulator or a gamecube emulator running on a PS3 though...
Or better yet, this could open the doors for a Windows install on a PS3. Wouldn't that make ol' Billy faint?
I had to tell the person I was just talking to about this news!
Awesome rumor, even better if true!
Playstation 3 outsold the Xbox 360 in worldwide numbers for the month of December 2007. You aren't very educated about something you seem to love so much.
Just because you're cheap and DVD are good enough for you, doesn't mean that others wouldn't want to be informed about it.
Blu-ray makes any downloaded content from any provider (Xbox, Apple, etc) look like garbage. I want Lossless Sound and 1080P media, I rarely settle for less as I appreciate having a high quality of life.
Enjoy your standard def.
What a waste of time, If I need the directors cut that bad, I would much rather go buy it on High Definition and get the definitive collection instead of rent a crappy standard def version that I don't even get to keep.
Microsoft sure has a good scam going with this Live business. I guess I'll use that Apple TV for my downloads...
CoD4 and Halo 3 don't even run natively at 720P, how can you say the Xbox 360 is a real HD console? Two of the biggest games of the year and they aren't even real high definition. For crying out loud, they just started included HDMI w/xBox 260 a few months ago! Microsoft doesn't know anything when it comes to Full HD so I would quiet down before you make yourself look like an even bigger idiot.
This is a Euro issue only and it obviously doesn't affect very many people.
I would be very interested in purchasing this for Playstation 3 and god knows, the Devs need to recoup some money after the PC release.
I will welcome Crysis with open arms!
Your letter was so much more professional than the responses received from Gametrailers.com already. I think this "Shane" goof needs to stop being so clearly bias towards the Playstation 3.
Wow, better get on the phone to CRAY and order a supercomputer...
I bought the PS3 on launch in November 2006 and I said, while waiting in line that day, My cell phone cost more than this.
At the time I had a fresh, newly ordered from hong kong K800i. I had just received it a few weeks earlier and it ran me just over $400, I bought a 1GB M2 micro for $60 and then add on overnight international shipping and I just spent a Playstation 3's worth of cash on a Cell Phone.
People who say the PS3 is too expensive are uneducated as to...
HD-DVD's do not look better, in fact, Blu-ray delivers at a higher bitrate allowing movies to look better on Blu if encoded that way. Natures Journey and Flags of our Fathers are two neutral releases that have higher bitrates on the Blu-ray equaling better picture.
This article is FALSE and the editor should be put in the corner on a time out.
Go buy a Blu-ray Player!
So the PS3 can play better looking games but they dumb down the settings so it looks as bad as a 360?
Toshiba is hurting. They are going to try and flood the market with firesale-priced crap that is just going to piss the consumer off even more than they already are when it comes to High Def.
God, how pathetic. I'd be ashamed to go through a checkout with one of these now. I bet the clerk would laugh at you as they pointed to the huge stack of HD-DVD players they have sitting in returns.
I can't believe people are actually considering not buying this. If it was available in North America, it would boost the install rate of PS3s ten fold...
This implementation of these features is way better than what was just announced for Xbox 360....
Playstation FTW.
You can order movies and music from Amazon.com if you live in Canada, just no electronics and bigger items.\
Close Encounters for 24 bucks! what a deal!
Who cares, The mission Impossible series used to be available on Blu-ray (and still is on eBay). What you have is some obsolete media and a player you won't be able to buy discs for in a year.
Stop hating on these good deals and go hug your HD-DVD player, you're the only one who loves it anymore.
HAHAHA "Turns out a fair number of people actually signed it."
Yeah, what like 1 percent of the owners?! Obviously even HD-DVD owners know they have already lost. 10,000 signatures means nothing, those people should have been out buying movies.
I agree though, people that bought before christmas for themselves or as gifts sure got screwed by Toshiba and the HD-DVD promotion group if they knew these bargaining talks were going on and they knew they los...
