Most are forgetting that Sony nurtured a lot of their studios before buying. They helped build them from small, indie studios on Playstation systems, before making a first party buy, and not holding them back from creating for other systems if they wished.
MS just dropped a wad of cash on a company that was well known in AAA standards (questionable with buggy games that mainly modders fix), over every platform, for over 30 years.
Doom, ES, Fallout... All ...
Well, a 2060 is roughly £380 on average, meaning you don't have a lot of options for the rest of your build, especially in the CPU department.
A 1660 (non ti or Super) will set you back around just under half the £600, but the fps will drop on anything from 1440p and upwards on something like AC: Valhalla, probably around the 40 fps range.
So no, I don't think those are great options when building a current gen beater.
...
£500-£600 is a potato in today's games terms if you want to play anything at current gen level.
You're talking 2080ti plus for anything resembling high settings in current games, and even then... It's likely you'll be playing at 1440p anyway, so FPS is negligible if you're sitting on low settings.
No way £500 gets you close to a PS5/SX level computer. I'm pretty sure it'll be well over a grand to even touch that...
It's really not that good. As an ex MMO junkie and ES fan, it couldn't get the balance right, and seemed like a dumbed down version of both genres, never quite meeting a point that made it enjoyable to play.
Fallout 76 did the same. It never quite meets the needs of a larger fanbase of the IPs, and is too lite for MMO players.
With the games, it's the old Disney trick. They never used to release their movies on video, and when they finally did in the 90s, it was limited runs, so they could rerelease in theatres to make much more cash on their older material. Did the same with DVDs.
All they need to do is release it again with a new cover in ten years and collectors will keep the crappy system continuing.
Are you hired by N4G to produce more comments and outrage, or are you really just a rubbish, low rent troll?
Guy never said anything about about dominance.
I guess it's a generational thing, people that started around the 3D games. 🤷
I like the original style, growing up with the NES and SNES games, but I also love the Prime series too.
Good to see it back to play out the Dread story.
I really don't give a monkey's about anyone in any industry's political leanings. Left or right.
If their ego transfers to games, I avoid them. If they make a good game, I'll buy it.
This is why I don't have social media. I couldn't care less about what other people's ideals are... It's the entertainment industry, not a damned soap box.
Customers over ideals. Profit.
Did anyone sign up for that Chinese bonfire thing that partnered E3 by the way?
A country with such a tight grip on controlling what gamers can and can't play, want to be the world's leader in building the gaming community...
Right.
Just call it GTA ForeVer and be done with it.
Seems like it's going to run a remaster every gen until doomsday.
Glad there are finally devs taking cues from Celtic/Gaelic mythology too. Seen enough Greek, Egyptian, and Norse to last a lifetime in recent games.
Possibly made promises to Sony that they're really putting effort into fixing and finishing it. I can't see why they would put it back up otherwise.
I still have my PS4 copy on the shelf, collecting dust until its fixed, or until they bury all other copies in the desert like E. T. and I can sell it for a few thousand. ;)
They better not change their tune on the free next gen upgrade either, or they'll have lost any shred of integrity they stil...
The key word here is sells...
It's now 10+ years on since 3D was actually a big thing. Avatar did amazingly on it's initial success, but let's not kid ourselves on that it was a great, classic movie, or it has seen year upon year financial gain. Most people's opinions seem to be that they've watched it once or twice, and it wasn't as big a deal as they thought.
Sold would be the key word now, and I don't think today, it will b...
Nice review. Was on the fence a bit, but seems like a return to the thinking man's horror game.
There's been a few posted. Unfortunately the days seem to have been taken up with more chatter from IGN and Gamespot than actual presentations.
This could have been done over two days with just the game shows, and a day afterwards for those who are interested in journalists views.
Jesus. Games please. Why are there so many interfering segments from journos and Youtubers?
Funny, because the better games are being made by dev teams working with Sony all these years.
Not meant as a dig at MS, but we've seen where first party teams have been lead over the past decade on both sides, and one is doing significantly more for customer satisfaction than the other in that department. Hopefully, the new aquisitions will prove different this time.
Howard is talking like Sony held them back, when he's been so bad at reading th...
Good. Back to it's roots again.
Been waiting for something like this more than Prime 4.
I would like you to inbox me, please.
@Wulfer
So Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Housemarque and so on were never big partners with Sony before they officially signed with them? Some through connections with Cerny at Universal. Some joining on later after they established themselves as a major player in the console industry. Some after being disillusioned with working at MS itself before Xbox.
The big breaks for most of the in house teams, have been given projects by Sony and been mostly allowed to...
