it is meant to help build out the universe of Halo. It really takes a while to put all of the pieces together.

Insomniac is what, a 2nd party developer? I think that is what they call it when a dev has close ties to one platform but still maintains their independence.
You are probably right, Microsoft would buy epic before they would let Gears go Multiplatform.
