He may very well have been mocking those that HADN'T bought a PS3. I actually read this joke as being a jibe at those who have not bought into the PS3 because of public negativity. After all, he's talking about marketing.

They need to cut the cost of the PS3. Taking 20Gbs off the HDD won't shave off $100. Technology costs.
That's something I don't think many people this generation appreciate. They had to lose something, and the BC was the only choice. What were they going to the take out, the Cell? The RSX? Besides, don't you people have PS2s, considering so many were sold?
