Same thing happened to me about a week ago, it just randomly shut off & then YLOD.
I'd take dedicated servers over party chat any day.

I wasnt planning on getting this game but after I saw gameplay of it I was like HOLY SH*T!
Ill always stick with Sony cuz they've never let me down, ive had a Ps1, Ps2, & Ps3 with no problems.Sony actually cares about their consumers too, free online, still support the Ps2, etc...
It does have an intuitive create-a-team component. Look at vids on youtube, people are re-creating NFL logos perfectly.
