Please read if you want to actually know how these attacks are mitigated...

Its hard to say exactly what the problems are with the PSN without knowing the network design.

I do know however that DDoS attacks affect even the largest of service providers, the effectiveness and capacity of Sony's On-Net traffic cleaning would need to be known, again this feeds into the capacity and design of the network and capacity of the cleaners, and also how the traffic i...

So your saying having the game at the edge of my network as opposed to traversing many wouldn't make any difference to latency and throughput?

If I am hitting my controller at home (UK) and then being switched and routed to a caching server running the PSNow service with all the games on it within the ISPs backbone (in the UK) I wouldn't see an improvement as opposed to hitting the server 14 hops away in Germany?

I have been an IP network engineer for a large service provider for over 6 years. I am now a carrier grade network architect and I can tell you for a fact this will not be like playing a game locally! I think conceptually its wonderful but infrastructure and the chaotic nature of the layer 3 networks will be a massive burden. If Sony adopts a caching strategy with large service providers and small ones alike this could help alleviate latency and packet loss from traversing other networks out ...

You're the biggest fucking fan boy in here! I find it funny reading these comments it helps me keep perspective of what is important in life, whilst keeping a keen impartial view on the next generation of console gaming. I love gaming I have done for since I was 6 years old (now 29) but you guys are all completely fucking weird and most of you probably haven't really lived life yet. I have held off really posting in here for years just because I had sworn to myself that I wouldn't...

DRM is coming whether you like it or not! Fact! It's already here! On all your devices that require an internet connection to download premium content from the megaweb! You can't trade games you download on PS4, there will be a time very soon where discs are a thing of the past. The first Console to truly enable this will have the support of the publishers, all Microsoft is doing is enabling you to access your game library from any Xbox One. I actually think that's a cool idea! Yo...

DRM already happens on Sony's machine! When you download a game you cannot trade it! You can't even share it with your friends! Xbox one you can! You can even download the game on the day of release.... I think your missing the point, Disc's as far as games go are going to be a thing of the past, all MS have done is jump on the bandwagon early and clearly have the third party publishers on their side. That being said I will probably buy a PS4 too.

If you look at it objectively you will come to this conclusion. This is the context, the PS3 has been outselling the Xbox in the UK for the last year or so and in Europe the PS3 has sold 5 million more units than Xbox 360!

So what your pointing out is in fact after all the bad press Microsoft has got over moving forward and in some cases just following what is currently practiced they have in fact become more popular! Goes with the old PR saying "There is no such thing a...
