Completely disagree. Pokemon as it is is seriously getting stale. They've only just moved away from a top down tile based system ffs. The series needs to evolve and I don't necessarily mean getting rid of turn based (though I think they could replace it with some variant of xenoblade's combat system without too much hastle), it just needs to do new things. Kind of likewhat botw dis for zelda only moreso. It would probably also sell a hell of a lot more. Pokemon go showed there'...

If the number plus digital makes it around 100,000 then that's not too bad. It's anecdotal, but from my experience of trying to pick up a copy over the holidays, Doom was the only switch game that was consistently sold out or in low stock. So either it sold decently or Bethesda didnt expect high sales anyway.

I'd say wait till we find out what the software line-up looks like for the year before making any assumptions. Rumours are of a January direct so we shouldn't have to wait long. If that Pokemon game comes out this year AND it's the Pokemon game where they actually significantly shake things up AND there's some other killer software released I see no reason why the switch can't get close to 20 million. People often forget just how big the Pokemon fan base potentially is. Th...

Isn't okamiden on the ds already a sequel? So they could either do a sequel to that or remake it as most people don't remember it/ haven't played it (it released on the ds right before the 3ds launched iirc). Its not as good as the original but that's to be expected without kamiya.

@SinkingSage not true. Fan remakes DO infringe copyright especially if they're using assets/engines from other games. Even fan games infringe copyright. The only difference is that in a court fan games can be argued to be fair use. This is a remake of a game that nintendo is selling RIGHT NOW. Therefore directly cutting into their profits. If nintnendo don't take down this kind of stuff then it can be argued in court that ALL metroid remakes even if a minor change (a patched file) tak...

I agree it wasn't really much of a moral decision. IIRC the NX was announced at the same time as their mobile plans in order to quell investors worries that nintendo would be abandoning dedicated hardware. They were pretty much forced to reveal the NX earlier than they would have wanted to. Which explains why we've known about it for at least a year but not had any marketing whatsoever surrounding it.

When things like that happen it's usually because the consoles are being sold in other markets, I'd imagine ps3s are still being sold in china for example. That's not really much of an indicator of whether or not consoles are still being sold though. I don't know about you but I can't remember the last time that I walked into a shop and saw a row of new ps3s on the shelf.

They specifically said multiple times that it was a tech demo and the real zelda would look nothing like it. Also amiibo are pretty much used in all first party nintendo games and people complain about it every time.

Well with my nintendo that's pretty much 2 out of 3, we'll just have to wait for the NX to see if there's party chat, though I'd hope with the backlash they got for splatoon they'd be more willing to consider it. Yeah nintendo really should have implemented these features a while ago but that doesn't mean they aren't catching up in terms of comparable services to the other consoles. I'd wait for the NX before decrying "Nintendo aren't going to catch u...

The thing is though, that was before nintendo directs. They used to announce stuff at spaceworld so they could do something similar with the NX. The only systems that were revealed at e3 are the DS and Wii lines which nintendo has said they're trying to distance themselves from so it would make sense for them to do something different this time.

If the NX releases this year then we'll probably know within the coming months. Given the amount of speculation around the new system I think it'd be a mistake not to capitalise on that by releasing the system asap (even if i'd personally prefer another year of wiiu). The PS4 was announced in the february of the year that it came out so if the nx is to be successful AND release this year then it should be given a minor announcement next month with a full reveal at e3. Xboxone I be...

You do know that the reason the 3ds hurts some people's eyes is because ALL 3d technology will hurt some peoples eyes right? That includes VR. The problem is that you're eyes are doing two things when viewing distance, they are comparing images from both eyes to get a 3d picture but they are also adjusting their pupils to zoom and focus in on different parts of the environment. Current 3D technology only simulates the former because you're still only looking at a 2d screen. What t...

I actually think that by not numbering this time nintendo may have saved themselves. A lot of people these days, really, really, hate anything associated with DS and Wii and a lot of others are completely apathetic towards those brands. With the Wii and DS nintendo wanted to create a brand outside nintendo, in much the same way they did with the gammeboy (you didn't buy a nintendo gameboy you bought a gameboy), this worked at first but now the brand has been completely tarnished (not nece...

Not saying I agree or disagree with the article but the 3ds is a "contemporary dedicated gaming device" and has a larger install base, the author could also be including the ps3/360 which still get some games and so are "arguably" contemporary gaming devices.

I really hate to do this, as it's a bit of a dick thing to say and all but even if you were being sarcastic, having goku in your list of approved characters renders your opinion invalid.

There are too many variables here. I think it all depends on when the NX will release, how similar in architechture it is to the wiiu and if a team at nintendo is working on the port how long they've been working on it. If the NX has a very different architecture to the wiiu (which it'll need to have for third party support) then it may take longer than a year to port zelda u, either way it would be a considerable amount of resources. So I think that IF the NX is the console people w...

I don't think a better story would help the sonic games much. It's the gameplay that's always lacking. I remember hearing a fairly good analysis of the 3d sonic games, saying the reason they're mostly bad nowadays is because sega never iterate upon an idea any more. Every sonic game "tries something different" but each new idea is never fleshed out fully so the games never improve. Take sonic lost world, that was a pretty good idea, if sega were to take what didn'...

...and the ps3 suffered massively for it in it's early years. The whole "they'll work two jobs to buy one" attitude blew up in sony's face and meant they had to reduce the price on a console that was already making a loss. Sony recovered the situation, sure and the ps3 might not have been terrible for them but they went from top dog to third place very quickly. Even if they did eventually overtake the 360 it wasn't worth it for sony because they only started making a...

Those reports about poor assistance and tools came from early dev kits which tend to be notoriously bad for all consoles. I believe though that there were rumours that nintendo had shown the NX to third parties at e3 and that the response was positive. If this is true then third parties will have been given tech specs for the system and so will know what to target and have (hopefully) already been making games for the system. If the console runs on x86 architecture (which it kind of has to at...

The lack of third party support really has very little to do with their controllers and a lot to do with the fact that third party games don't sell too well on nintendo systems. With a smaller install base that's less likely to buy your games what incentive is there to develop for the system? Especially if it has a unique architecture making straight ports difficult. The wiiu controller is the same as a regular controller but with a screen in the middle, it doesn't take a genius t...
