It can't be patched because it was the crypto key thats been compromised. If sony patch the crypto then all current applications and games will stop working. The only way to patch this is by a hardware update.

I guess you know nothing about this exploit, they found the public private keys, meaning that now users can sign their own selfs and build their own executable file and boot straight up on the ps3 without the need of the usb dongle, hence the hacker stated that the ps3 security is an epic fail since it will be difficult for sony to fix it and the crowd laugh about it. Dude wtf get your facts straight. Geohot started the hacking weeks after ps3 slim launch. It took him 6 weeks to develop it and the working code was launched on February of this year. The ps3 slim launched on September 2009. So who came first?
