Well tbh, what AAA title these days aren't super hyped? R* is among the best devs/ publishers out, and they show that quality > quantity.
So is it overhyped? Not imo, as GTAV is aiming to be the best in series, and that by itself is not an easy feat.

The MP is already live. I have a friend who got it on the PS3 a few days ago. I saw her progress on Battlelog.
No release date yet. CCP themselves aren't sure. There will be another beta build coming up soon.
There's going to be a tournament coming up soon, so I don't think they will release the game in the middle of the tournament. The final is suppose to be in November, so don't expect a release before that.
I suspect either December, or January.

as much as people hate on CoD (I'm not a huge fan personally) you have to admit, Treyarch raised the bar with what they implemented.
- the ability to stream without equipment
- 30 day leagues (great for clans)
- spectator mode
these are the things that raises the bar for console gaming, and makes the "competitive players" happy. They cater for casuals and the hardcore CoD players.

You say a month later...I've been in DUST beta for 3 months now, and CCP said it's now looking at a 2013 release, with at least 2 more beta builds to release.
The game has improved allot over the builds, and with 2 builds remaining, with more than 3 months of dev time, CCP can improve the game even more.
Just saying, DUST shouldn't be judged too harshly from the closed beta. The game is literally in the process of being made. It's been fun b...
Hands on preview...of the Beta. I've heard allot of bad comments from people playing the beta, it's like they think it's a demo, and not know it's an ACTUAL beta.
Hit detection is off, and general gameplay feels a bit clunky, some balancing issues to be sorted, and general bugs and glitches.
The game shows allot of promise, but like EVE, it's not really geared towards the casual market. The RPG style of leveling up your character is vast...
well it's about time games get judged on their broken state on release. If only Skyrim and Fallout 3 on the PS3 got judged the same way >.>
