I love the game, I probably played more than you. I'm 50 hrs in and only in the Mama chapter.
Obviously apart from the marketing and actors. I imagine the game didn't require a high budget, unlike HZD or Uncharted4. Kojima productions has less than a 100 people and the engine was already built.
If anything is a compliment to how well the game is made.
But still I know if there is a sequel it will far more ambitious.

I can't help but think about the amazing foundation for a potential franchise that Sony and Kojima have built. Although DS is very well crafted, I don't think it had the high enough budged it needed.

So what? Did you see the last avengers movie, it was a horrible plot but it was still an entertaining movie to watch.
Honestly it's brilliant. Unobtrusive ads work well for funding a game, much better than DLC or MT. Plus Kojima games has always been known for using real world product placement.
