Being a girl who games you don't have this problem really as I don't think I've ever dated a non-gamer.
Personally thinking that the whole competitive nature of gaming has been left out. How many zombie games allow you to go head to head with another person on equal footing leaving it purely down to who is the better player? Not many. L4D certainly doesn't. That's why people prefer to play those games - because then you can take on your friends and put your ability directly against theirs.
Must be all those games consoles he has...

Personally I'm waiting for the MMORPG genre to be reinvented entirely. So bored of it in its current iteration.
Star Citizen has potential but I really want something to blow me away. Something more personal. Hell, I'd settle for skyrim with co-op or random player drop in. A world like that is what I want to play with my friends in.
