Erik Kain certainly has a lot more sense than Kevin Murnane. I'm glad this opinion piece was written.

I do. I actually stopped buying regular BDs and started buying UHD BDs (they include regular BDs in addition to the the UHD BD FYI)...and I don't even own a 4k HDR UHDTV or player yet. I was hoping the PS4 Pro would have bridged that gap when I eventually buy a HDR UHDTV. Stupid move on Sony's part to not include a UHD BD drive.

@DragDDark
They are about $30 at Best Buy where I live and well worth the price in my opinion.

Well said, couldn't agree more.

I totally agree and I am in the same boat as you.

When was the last time you went to a Best Buy? They have been selling UHD BDs for a few months now.

...I am thinking the lack of an UHD Blu-ray drive is more than likely a deal break for me. For all of you asking "who buys a console to play movies? Who buys Blu-rays these days?" One of THE biggest reasons why I bought a PS3 in the first place was because it had a Blu-ray player. Just because you don't buy physical media anymore does NOT mean that the rest of the world doesn't either.

I think the Wii U GamePad is great! There have been -> countless <- times where a friend of mine and I wanted to use the TV for something else while his 10 year old son was playing on the Wii U, using the same TV. Thanks to the gamepad, we were able to take over the TV and his son was able to keep playing without issue.

Moreover, haven't you ever played a video game where you took your eyes off from the TV screen to go look something up (I.E.: the location of an i...

For everyone on Windows 10, the only cost is the price of the game, like every other PC game. The venue (Steam/GoG/MS Store) from where you get the game is irrelevant. What, then, is the incentive to get an XBOX when you can play the same game on your Windows 10 PC? Why spend another $500 (assuming that's the price for Scorpio) to play the exact same game in your living room? There are much cheaper alternatives to achieve the same thing if that's what you're looking to do. It mak...

@cyberwaffles and @OmnislashVer36

Have you ever taken a look at the US Cenus...at all? If you did you'd know that blacks make up about 13% of the TOTAL U.S. population (white people account for about 63%, Asians about 5%, and Hispanics about 13%). Just as an example only...if EVERY single person in the US had a job...black people would still only occupy about 13% of all jobs. My point being, if the ratios were to hold true and translate over to film...about a little les...

Have you heard of the Atlantic slave trade? I'm guessing not judging by your posts. Just a quick FYI: In the early 1800s NIGERIANS were selling other Nigerians as slaves to Europeans and the likes. The Ashante in Ghana earned much of their wealth back in the day by capturing/kidnapping other Africans and selling them as slaves. Do I need to go on with other examples? It wasn't just "the white ma...

Video games and consoles are luxury items. Not everyone can buy them without batting an eye; many people have to save their hard earned money to get the console and games. People had a choice early on between the Xbox One and the PS4. Many went with the PS4 because it performs better than the Xbox One. Up until now, people have come to expect that their console will last the whole generation without having to worry about a mid-cycle upgrade. Granted, purportedly there won't be any Neo exc...

You wouldn't have. That's obviously the trade off. Wait however long, save $400 by not getting a PS4, and get the PS4.5 for $400 when it comes out...or spend $400 now on a PS4 and then another $400 down the road for the PS4.5. $400 vs $800. It's up to you if paying that extra $400 is worth it to play Bloodborne now rather than later...unless you're content with just the PS4 alone then you've got nothing to lose or be concerned about.

"Neo" customers will get NOTHING exclusive because they have the "Neo"

...Except for higher/greater visual fidelity. That they will have.

For those of you in favor of the "Neo" and spamming things like "you don't have to buy it."

WTF did you buy an Xbox One or PS4 in the first place? I am sure that copy of Destiny runs well enough on the PS3 and Xbox 360 as is. So WTF would anyone want or need to upgrade to the PS4 and Xbox One? ......If I were to take a wild guess, it's probably because the PS4 and Xbox one offer better graphics, higher resolutions, better frame rates with all ...

See, that's the wrong mentality to have, giving up on a (great) game and selling it because you can't beat a boss. I've played Demon Souls (still working on beating it) and I have beaten Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, and Bloodborne. I HAVE struggled mightily countless times at a boss or in an area. WE ALL HAVE. Yet, after much perseverance, we've gotten past that boss or that area that we were stuck at. If you need help, you can always summon someone else into your game, assuming...

My HD 7970 and Core i5 2500K are more powerful than what the Xbox One has to offer. The 7970 is years old as is my i5...both older than the Xbox One. The ONLY reason why I bought an Xbox One was for the exclusives. If MS goes this route then the ONLY reason I had just went right out the Windows. I might as well not have even bothered buying an Xbox One...just the controller. I could have used that $500 to buy a new graphics card instead. What a waste....

As many others have pointed out, it is no longer a console when you can upgrade the GPU/CPU/PSU/RAM/etc. on it; it becomes a computer at that point. You might as well just buy a desktop computer and or build yourself a gaming rig.

Moreover, replacing the stock HDD, with a 7200+ RPM HDD or a SSD, does not apply in the above situation as the speed of the drive is negligible in this day and age in terms of affecting gameplay and or visuals.

What I think some of you are missing is that this is a piece of technology that may flop. $600 is a lot to spend on something that MAY flop. If it flops, then you essentially have a $600 paperweight that will gain dust over time.

I was an early adopter of HD-DVD and bought a HD-DVD player. Look at where HD-DVD is now...dead. I am a proud owner of a $500 paperweight.

That is what the real issue is here with the $600 price point for the Oculus Rift. If the...
