Yes it does matter, you got many who jumped From X360 to PS4. People want 1080p with 30/60fps.
If Xbox cannot provide it all the time then the word gets out to the casuals that Playstation is better because of extra frames or pixels.

Can't discredit Xbox though, they have broke it's own record and still selling.
