Initially I felt the same way. It's one of the reasons for why it's so hard for me to go back to it. But in terms of morality, and realism, it's a great game.
Yeah, I don't actually mind playing as any particular race or gender. But just as all white characters shouldn't be shoehorned into an offensive stereotype (typically they're not) neither should characters of color. It's not about being PC, it's about not pushing false narratives and painful stereotypes.
"But it is up to the developer to decide how they are portrayed - after all, it is their creation."
That's true. But if they choose to portray people negatively, then the people portrayed have every right to be offended and complain about it.
The point isn't to force POC or women in to video games. The point is that, if they're going to be portrayed, portray them correctly. I don't really see what's wrong with that.
I agree. Microsoft actually has a lot of IPs from the original Xbox days that haven't been touched in years. If they could get a few good teams together, start making some reboots or sequels to those IPs and start developing some new ones, they'd be good to go. I was really looking forward to Scalebound....
Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
You make an excellent argument. Sony has had an extremely difficult time keeping up with Nintendo's handheld line. Honestly, everyone who has ever tried to compete with Nintendo's handheld line has been demolished. Add to this the fact that the Nintendo Switch isn't even a handheld but a hybrid console, and it's going to be extremely difficult for anyone to compete with them.
Indeed they do. Sucks for small business because for them, the NES Mini is next to impossible to get in stock right now.
They're all good in their own way. But I was definitely one of those people who disliked both of the games. I'm still more of a fan of the PS2 era, but I can honestly say that my feelings are largely influenced by nostalgia. After taking nearly a decade to reflect on things, I can definitely see the value in GTA IV. But at the time, it was way too realistic for me. Now GTA V... well, that's a story for another day.
