I really don't think nintendo wants to release a console before there are 360/ps3 successors.
at this point of this console generation nintendo needs to deliver something very special to compete with these well etablished hd consoles and I don't think they have something like this

battlefield and crysis kiddies get their superb "all ingame" trailers, real gamers get teasers like this and are happy for days.
yeah but I doubt even the pc version of bf3 will have such large maps.
especially the urban environments in this mod are huge. to be honest, I've never seen such huge city maps in an fps until this day. this is amazing and creates some intense combat moments.
I really doubt bf3 will provide giant maps like this, though it still will be an amazing game.
