They would have waisted so much money emulating the PS3 on the PS4. PC is having a hard time running PS3 emulator and even maintaining the framerates so just imagine the PS4 running it. I don't even think PS4 is capable of running it.
PS2, Original PS3, PSVita(digital) had backward compatibility so you statement is invalid. PS4 was an exception and PSNow is not the answer to backwards compatibility since is a service for people who missed out or want to try out PS2(currently started to add), PS3 and PS4 games.

David Jaffe have fallen further than Cliffy and I would rather not have PlayStation support him since he believes that only online games and microtransactions is the future. Well it won't be announced on this year E3 for sure but rather it will have it own PlayStation Conference(probably 2019 or 2020 PlayStation Experience) and they will tease the next console starting with next gen controller and showing us another amazing trailer of PS1-PS4 generation, and then announced 2nd/3rd party games partnerships and 1st Party game been work by home Studio.Then on E3 show the console and its game.
Before we get a sequel, we need a remake of the first game.

@shinoff2183 the problem is that they haven't made a good game in awhile and haven't done anything big ever since The Order. Plus The Order didn't do that well in sales and got mixed reviews. If sales was decent then PS probably could have greenlit The Order sequel just like Knack which Knack won't get another sequel since the second game was a flop.
But remember that PlayStation cut ties with Ready At Dawn so they are no longer a second Party studio. So the only one who can do a sequel for The Order is Santa Monica since they did help out Ready At Dawn make the game.
